Just north of Houston, near The Woodlands and Conroe, Texas, as a young boy I ran the woods around Old Waverly hunting whatever was in season. It was my grandparent’s farm, we called it “the country”. Stories of adventures in the woods and hay meadows around “Waverly” continued until I went off to college. During and after college the hunting stories kept on being written but they occurred in other places.

As the years went by “life” settled quite a bit but hasn’t slowed down at all. Trips to the woods are not attended by just a few anymore because with 15 grandchildren hikes and hunts are always well attended.

Marilyn and I want our grandchildren to have those experiences we had. While on a hunt or just a walk, in the woods or in a park, by the beach or in the mountains ... but out in nature, with each other and our dog. We believe it is a great environment for character development and connection with that which is Divine.

So now we find ourselves living in Old Waverly raising those grandchildren to enjoy the gift of this Earth, its wildlife, the people that live here and man’s best friend (next to a spouse) … a hunting dog. Does it get better than that? I don’t think so.
